Internet only. Although published in 1954, several
chapters of this autobiography describe Hughes's
experiences of his year spent in the Soviet Union in
1932-1933. He spent much of his time in Central Asia to
see how the non-white people there were treated. (He
also has some amusing descriptions of Arthur Koestler
just before he publicly broke with communism.) Also
included is a chapter on Hughes's experience in Spain
for several months in 1937. |
